AirForestry Awarded €4.4M Vinnova Grant to Advance Data-Driven, Autonomous Precision Forestry

Uncategorized

AirForestry has been awarded funding from Vinnova, Sweden's Innovation Agency, to coordinate "Paradigm shift through data-driven, autonomous precision forestry for a sustainable transition (PADA)", as part of a larger Vinnova-funded project within the Advanced Digitalization program. The project has been granted ~€4.4M (~SEK 48 million) and brings together an exceptional group of partners: Skogforsk, SLU, SCA Skog, Sveaskog, Stora Enso Skog, Holmen Skog, Tele2, and IKEA.

The project aims to connect the forestry value chain end-to-end, enabling better decisions across the system and taking real steps toward precision forestry, where robotics and automation make operations gentler, safer, and more sustainable.

"This project is going to be epic. We've brought together some of the most exciting players in the industry when it comes to digitalization, and now we're teaming up to connect the forestry value chain end-to-end. Through projects like this, we can start making better decisions across the system, and take real steps toward precision forestry, where robotics and automation make operations gentler, safer, and more sustainable." — Olle Gelin, Founder, AirForestry

"The funding from Vinnova, together with the combined expertise within the project, creates strong conditions for taking significant steps in the transition to data-driven precision forestry. By continuing to develop digitalized and autonomous workflows, we can strengthen the global competitiveness of both forest owners and the forest industry." — Magnus Bergman, Head of Technology and Digitalization, SCA Skog
