AirForestry is a Swedish deep-tech company founded in 2020 and headquartered in Uppsala. The team brings together expertise in forestry, flight systems, automation, and scalable technology development.
We develop an autonomous, electric multi-drone system for flying forest thinning, enabling more efficient forestry operations with lower environmental impact than conventional methods.
How it all fits together
Our multi-drone system
We have developed an entirely new way to thin forests: From the air, using an electric, autonomous multi-drone system.
With electric drones, purpose-built harvesting tools, and proprietary software, we harvest trees without touching the ground, all controlled and overseen from our Ground Control Station. This protects the soil from soil damage and compaction, reduces emissions, and makes forests more productive.

How does it work exactly?
Identification
Our software analyzes the forest and identifies which trees to remove.
Flight
The fully electric drones fly out to and navigate to a carefully selected tree.
Thinning
Our tool delimbs and fells the tree before the trunk is lifted away.
Transportation
The trunk is transported to the nearest road, without disturbing the ground.
